I enjoyed our meeting last night and am excited about blended learning. I already use many technology tools such as Kahoot,it and Edmodo. I am also teaching my fellow teachers about how to incorporate more technology into their teaching. These workshops will help me discuss some of the benefits and drawbacks of using technolgy and learn about some new tools. I can't wait to try out Collaborize Classroom and see how it works in comparison to other tools I already use.
I also enjoyed the meeting last night. It was nice to read about and discuss so many new (or at least new to me!) tech tools that are available for teachers and librarians. I'm looking forward to learning more throughout the school year and implementing some of these tools in my teaching. My first experiment will be with TED-ed. I'll report back on how it goes!
I really enjoyed being part of this group. After our chat and reading the article, I have decided to implement a new program in my classes new semester. Something that interested me was the idea of creating cartoons in my classes. I would like to try it myself first and then use with students. As the article suggested, it is better to start slowly.
At our first meeting, I was surprised to find that I am already using some blended learning in my classroom. I also found that many of my goals for using new technologies this year are related to blended learning as well. In this group, I hope to be able to learn about new tools that will be useful to me, as well as have a place where I can bounce ideas off of my colleagues and share my triumphs and failures. It was so nice to hear my concerns about using technology echoed throughout the group, as we all feel that incorporating technology can be overwhelming and that getting to the point where the technology makes things easier is not a simple task. I look forward to trying out blended learning this year and sharing my experiences with the group.
I also enjoyed our meeting in such a nice place. After reading the article and listen to the discussion I realized that I am already using blended learning. At least sample of it. I used Edmodo with my book club students. They liked it. Me too. I also realized that I can start small and see what works and what doesn't. It is important to me that online learning allows all participants to take part, even those who would never participate in the classroom. I am also not sure how to manage all those discussion threads and how to manage students' participation. Hopefully I will find the answers soon.
This program is a good idea. During the first meeting I clarified for myself what exactly " Blended Learning"is. Technology takes more and more space in classroom instruction. I use Quizlet, Google Docs, Smart Board. Other participants of the seminar mentioned many other platforms: Prezi, Animoto, Collaborize Classrooms, and other. I am excited to try one of them next semester.
I am writing this for the second time. So much for my technology skills! I have not read anyone else's comments because I would like to approach this from my own perspective.I really enjoyed the comradery and the idea that we are all in this together. I feel comfortable with technology and would not give up my Smart Board for anything. However, there is so much more to learn. I like the idea of starting small and building. Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed with all that has to be done (as I know you all do) that this coming together and discussing different methods and approaches is very comforting. I look forward to developing and experimenting with different technological approaches. Thanks Rachel for doing this! I love the cozy environment and the "snacks"" are delicious!!!!
Thanks so much for organizing this group. Meeting everyone and then reading and discussing the article on blended learning was informative and supportive for those of us wondering how to integrate it into our teaching. I love the idea of think big but start small.
As an experienced school librarian, I've been using Google Drive tools like Presentation, Sites and Forms to teach students and staff how to use databases and other online resources. But I've been very interested in giving students the opportunity for self-paced and self-guided learning for a while now. I'm hoping to take a step forward on this with the support of this Group!
First of all, I would like to say thank you to Rachel for selecting me to became part of the Blended Learning Group. Yes, I agree with everyone that the first meeting was very interesting, since we were sharing our experiences using technology in our daily work. I've realized that this is a new term to describe the application of technology in a learning environment. As I mentioned in the meeting, my goal is to create a book club using e-books. Which blended learning will I use? I do not know yet. I will hope to learn a simple tool and share it with my colleagues in my job. Thank you again.
Everyone have a Happy Holidays and a Healthy and Peaceful New Year 2015.
