Thanks so much for a great final meeting last night. It was great to further our learning and get to know all of you this semester! Please post a response to the article The Four Models of Blended Learning from the Innosight Institute. The try creating a model of your ideal classroom. http://courses.edtechleaders.org/html_cores/trainingcores/multimedia/classroom_app/
Try and post it to the blog. Thanks for a great semester!
Thanks for a great semester everyone! In regards to the article we read, I thought it seemed as though many of the set-ups for blended learning are incredibly difficult to pull off without a dedicated blended learning staff member at the school to organize the individualized plans that some of the models called for. I know how long it takes my assistant principal to just do regular programming, so I don't know how we would pull off a lot of these models. I could imagine doing stations in the library, which is something I played around with on the online model builder. I could see myself setting up some tables around the SmartBoard to teach a lesson while other students are doing some online learning on the laptops at other tables, and having students rotate. This would especially work with some of the ICT classes at my school, so that way I could tailor the lesson to the special education population or the general education population.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for a great semester of learning from one another!
We set up a blended learning situation when we collaborate with teachers and have students create a variety of research presentations. Several students have researched careers using our print book collection while others are using the online materials, such as the Occupational Outlook Handbook and different databases we subscribe to. Our college and career libguide self directs students to different websites which may be useful to them. Thanks for a great semester. I learned many different tips from sharing with my colleagues and liked getting together to meet and discuss different trends in blended learning. I discovered TED talks after our first session and became addicted to Serial.
ReplyDeleteThe Blended Learning Institute was such a wonderful experience! As a direct result of the affinity group, I've begun teaching two coding classes in my school Thank you to Rachel for hosting and to the other members for their insights. I look forward to seeing all of you again in the future!

Thanks to my participation in the Blended Learning CafĂ© meetings, I gained an exposure to new ideas and possibilities. Although we all incorporate technology into our instruction, now I better understand how the blended learning works, how it is structured, and delivered. After reading the article Four Models of Blended Learning I realized that more comprehensive models, like self-blended or enriched-virtual models require combined efforts and collaboration of all involved. I imagine that it also takes time and practice to fully benefit from it. Rotation model, however, particularly the station rotation is easy to do, which I’ve done with my students. I have learned from our DOE website that some high schools with the support of Berkley University are implementing computer courses with focus on coding. This is where the education is going so the more we know about blended learning and other initiatives incorporating technology we will be always a step ahead in the game.
